UAIMH Lunch & Learn: Suicidal Thoughts & Behaviors Among Young Children

Experiences and Perspectives of Early Childhood Mental Health Perspectives

Recent studies show that suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STB) among young children is a warning sign of challenges ahead, including increased risk of suicidality in school age children and adolescents. Given the recognition that STB in early childhood can predict suicidality in later childhood and adolescence, it is imperative to examine provider experiences and perspectives assessing and treating STB in young children. This talk by PhD Candidate and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Devon Musson Rose will highlight the findings of recent studies focused upon understanding provider experiences, training, exposure to, and attitudes related to working with young children (under age 7 years) with STB.
